Do You Know Where You Are Going? Turn on Your GPS.
Hello Everyone!
What an awesome God we serve! I fall in love with Him anew everyday. His mercies are new every morning, great is His faithfulness! I wish I could visit with each of you personally, and we could tell each other of His great works. Since time and distance limit me from speaking with each of you, I thank God for the opportunity to share with you in this newsletter.
I’ve been thinking about direction a lot lately, seeking God’s thoughts on some tough decisions that needed to be made. After I began to seek God about some specific questions, I became aware of many people needing direction. The most requested prayer request I receive is “What does God want me to do about . . .” I believe the majority of Christians want to walk in obedience but they are not always sure of “what” to do.
The Word says in Proverbs 3:5-6 Amp. “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.”
God wants His people to know His ways to walk and live according to the good plans He has for them. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” The Hebrew word in that verse that is translated “thoughts” is “machashabah” which is a wonderful word that means devices, plans, purposes and inventions! God is constantly inventing wonderful victories for you in His Spirit. He is planning lavish blessings for you so you may be a blessing to others. He longs to love you extravagantly, imparting to you the knowledge of Himself and the future He holds for you and your loved ones.
In Col.2:3 Amp. we read: “In Him all the treasures of [divine] wisdom (comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God) and [all the riches of spiritual] knowledge and enlightenment are stored up and lie hidden.”
Since God’s Word tells us clearly that God will give us direction and make our paths straight, that He will invent whatever it takes to give us a future and a hope, that in Him are all the treasures of wisdom hidden, then why do we miss our way?
I believe there are several reasons for our missing God’s direction. We don’t take the time out of our schedules to spend with God in the Word, fellowship and prayer. We live in a culture of fast food, instant cash, and almost instant communication with people across town and across the globe. We want God to give us instant direction. Sometimes we miss God’s direction because we have too much noise in our ears and minds to hear His direction. Noise pollution is a real threat to our spiritual loives today. We need to separate ourselves and get quiet before God. He speaks in a quiet, still voice and we must be sensitive to recognize it.
If you have taken a detour or made a wrong turn, just ask your personal GPS – Holy Spirit – to get you back on course. He knows exactly how to get you from where you are to where you need to be.
Your answer is not in the natural but in the Spirit. Spend time with the Father, and the Holy Spirit will reveal the Father’s thoughts and heart to you. 1Co 2:9-10 Amp. “But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed]. Yet to us God has unveiled and revealed them by and through His Spirit, for the [Holy] Spirit searches diligently, exploring and examining everything, even sounding the profound and bottomless things of God [the divine counsels and things hidden and beyond man's scrutiny].”
I challenge you to go to the Father and present your request for direction. Ask Him to reveal His plan and His will for your life and situation. Believe that He heard you and that He is giving you wisdom “without measure” (James 1:5-8). Believe that you receive His wisdom when you pray (regardless of what you feel or see). 1John 5:14-15 Amp. “And this is the confidence 9the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him; we are sure that if we ask anything – make any request – according to His will – in agreement with His own plans, He listens to and hears us. And since we positively know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know with settled and absolute knowledge that we have granted us as our present possessions the requests made of Him.”
Meditate on the promises in His Word. Stay in His presence until the answer manifest in the natural. You won’t fail, you have His Word on it!
Walking in His direction,
